Five Star Farmer's Market - Coming Soon

Noticed this "coming soon" sign posted at the former Sleepy's store in the Walmart plaza (Flatbush Avenue, Hartford)

I'm guessing we are looking at another asian fruit and vegetable market (think Appletree or A Dong) rather than a traditional New England farmer's market.

I heard this new Asian grocery store is going to be different from the other existing ones in CT. I got a copy of their coming soon flyer and it says that they will be selling fresh vegetable and exotic fruits from their own farms and orchards located in FL. They are also getting some fresh produce from local farmers in CT as well. In addition the store will have fresh seafood, dried grocery, and hot deli/cafe with popular Asian food for eat-in or take-out. Here's a link to their website that was stated on their flyer: www.5StarFarmersMarket.com

Hm...are you sure you are Anonymous? YOu sound a lot like someone involved in this new place. In which case, good luck with it, I'll be sure to stop in once you open.

I used to travel to Canada for exotic asian fruits. I hope they carry them here in Harftord so I don't have to travel that far. Can't wait for the store to open. It says Summer 09 but it does not provide any dates.

Yes they will provide some exotic fruits. I read one of their signs in the window. They look ready to open soon. I heard that there's gonna be a Grand Opening Celebration. I also heard that there is bubble tea.

I was there this weekend and it was pack. My mom was doing the shopping and she was excited with Jackfruit and other fresh fruits and veg. I had sugar cane juice and it was the Best. I have NOT had one for a long long time. The sandwich was also GOOD. Need more meat though. The line was long. Heard that the roast pork / duck and chicken were the best seller at the deli. Good Luck! I will definitely go back again.
